Hi Sian

Welcome to the forum. There's lots of us on here - so always someone to communicate with.

I'm Anne, 50 on Monday!!! I have 3 grown up children 24, 22 and 18. I am also on Humira and am just coming off sulphasalazine to see if I can eliminate some of the side effects.. we are still trying to find out which drug is giving me the worst problems.

My injections are fine, unless I press too hard - then they hurt and bruise. As I already have fat on my tummy!!! - I just hold the pen against it quite lightly. I've heard that doing it in the leg is very very painful so I haven't tried that one!

I'm off to see my daughter in London tomorrow, but today I am exhausted, so heading for bed in a min!

I'm assuming from your username you live in Wales!!

Love Anne

Hi Sian, and welcome to the forum - hope you enjoy "meeting" us all!

I`ve been on humira for 4 years now, and it`s been a huge help to me in terms of mobility etc. I don`t actually mind the jab, though being a coward I always inject into my tummy, rather than my leg - more flab to cushion the blow!!

I`m Kathleen, aged 60, and married to Nick. We have two grown-up sons & two little grandsons.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Hi Sian,

Welcome to the forum! You'll get lots of friendly support and advice on here.
I am 61 ,have had RA for 10 years and now take mtx and humira. I live with Ian, my husband of 32 years and we have a 22year old daughter who at present is working in Canada.
Humira is also the drug I have found to be the best for me, after trying just about every other DMARD and conbination of DMARDs.
I do find the humira pens quite painful, I preferred it when I used the syringes, however it is over in seconds.
Looking forward to getting to know you.

Doreen xx

Hi Sian

Welcome to the forum, you will get so much support and understanding as we all know what having RA is all about.

I am 55 with grown up children and have had it for just over two years, having failed on the dmards and inflixmab, I started on Cimzia about six weeks ago and seems to be working quite well so far. Pleased to hear the Humira has worked well for you, sorry that you find the injections painful, I inject mine in the tummy too and have no problems.

Look forward to getting to know you.

Hi Sian!

Welcome to NRAS. My cousin is A GP and works nr cardiff. She gets much better funding then we do here I know that!
Pleased you are doing well on the humira- sorry to hear about the pain with the jab, I tried the humira out but couldnt tollerate it the pain with the jab wasnt fun either! try icing the area and taking the pain relief 30mins before the jab.

Also, changing the angle of needle can help.

Cimzia might be a future option for you, it doesnt hurt like humira does and is very similar to humira in the way it works.

I am Jenni btw, 35, married with 3 children. Severe RA admittedly- but that isnt the most interesting thing about me! Promise!

Welcome again

Hi Sian,

Definately the place to be, don't know what I would have done without this site when I was diagnosed in May 2010. Having so many people who understand what you are going through was so helpful.

My name is Anne 51 married with two boys aged 19 and 21 and a foster boy aged 9.

Take care

Anne x

Hi Sian

Welcome to the forum. A great place to be for support and information; lots of folk, lots of knowledge and a wealth of tried and tested experiences! Glad you have found us and NRAS!

I'm Lyn, married to Mike, we have four 'kidults', Abby 23, Ian and Jake 18, and Louis 16. All four in various stages of education! We live in Thornton Cleveleys in north west Lancashire. I was diagnosed with RA 23 years ago and have since run the gamut of medication (although more options are popping up now and again thankfully!) and had lots of surgical procedures along the way. Currently on Enbrel, Prednisolone, Methotrexate and Naproxen, and a barrow load of pain killers and other bits and bobs to keep things ticking over! Things have gone rather pear shaped of late so awaiting further consultation, very soon I hope. Heyho...

Look forward to getting to know ... so do keep postingThumpUp
